Starter Houses - Plans and design drawings
Starter houses are often the most difficuly to design even though simplest to construct. Restrictive building sites and tight budgets impose severely. Intuitive design becomes almost impossible.
Sometimes this can be a blessing in disguise. Because the designer is forced to deal with particular issues, it can happen that a different way of solving a problem emerges. Good architecture is about discovery after all.
Plan readers are not mind readers however, thus it becomes particularly important that these houses are supported by a description that explains their function, purpose and benefits. Only then can the house design be understood for what it is and who it is for.
Designre will not offer many homes in this category but we will venture along this road periodically to keep our thinking sharp.

House plan designations codify their type as follows.
Single story houses have one letter followed by a number. (EG; D 5)
Two storey houses have two letters followed by a number. EG: CA6.
The second letter is always A or C or L where the upper floor is given to Adults, Children or Living spaces.
